Latest visit with Master Sam 3/21/2010
I got to visit with Master Sam this past weekend. He is doing well. It looks like he put on a little weight since my last visit. I got some good pictures of him and posted them on the arnistendencia site. I posted a couple of pictures of Master Sam lecturing about how to make the perfect rattan stick. Master Sam's knee was bothering him so he pretty much stayed in his wheelchair.
Do not be fooled because Master Sam is in a wheelchair. I was curious to see if my friend could still weild a stick. I lined up in front of him like I have done for 20 years. I was surprised that Master Sam still has the fire. No, Master Sam is not what he used to be, But it was wonderful to be hitting sticks with him again.
I will try to post the video I got.
To end the evening Master Sam's family took us to dinner. My goodness Sam can eat alot! all in all it was a wonderful visit. Sam's family was so gracious to us and I/we will be visiting again soon.

Supreme Master Samson Celestion Tendencia 08/25/1920 - 05/23/2010
The ARNIS Tendencia TM family would like to inform the martial arts community of the passing of Supreme Master Samson C. Tendencia.
Truly the martial arts community has lost one of its truly great contributors.
Master Sam passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday morning May 25 after an extended bout with Alzheimers.
His wife Evangelina, Daughter Virginia, and son in law Troy were with him. 
Master Sam was memorialized in a small ceremony with immediate family.
Master Sam will be cremated with full military honors and his ashes taken back to the Philippines by wife of 50+yrs Evangelina.
For us here at ARNIS Tendencia TM we have lost our mentor/founder and dear friend.
I will speak for the remaining disciples as we were able to attend this simple ceremony.
I/We are honored to be considered by the Tendencias' "immediate" family and sympathize and deeply mourn with them about their loss.
May our merciful lord both nurture and comfort us in our time of mourning.

I am proud to announce a recent promotion. Mr Peter Stoothoff from Long Beach CA has been promoted to (Instructors rank) 2nd degree Brown belt in the ARNIS Tendencia system. I have personally watched Pete develop into a very good Arnis and Jiu Jitsu player. Pete has been a student of mine since 2003. There was a break in training 2005 to 2009 but we are back to daily training. Great job Pete you have been patient and worked really hard.
I will post a picture at the first opportunity.

Once again thank you all for the overwhelming support. The ARNIS TENDENCIA site was down for a bit, but is now up and running. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all,
We here at ARNIS Tendencia (TM) are still practicing and training for the upcoming year. The latest news is the recent promotion of Kajukenbo Master Professor Alejandro Elias. Professor Elias was awarded his 8th Degree. A very prestigeous award. Of course as modest as Professor Elias is, Professor Elias said "he did not feel qualified". But the Kajukenbo association felt differently. Rest assured Professor Elias IS fully qualified and we all here at ARNIS TENDENCIA TM Congradulate him on achieving this monumental goal. Professor Elias is currently taking students at this time.
There is a "loose" plan out about Maestro Guillory visiting the west coast in January 2012 but I will post this news as things develop. At that time there is talk of filming some of the basic stick, judo and jiu jitsu moves. So stay tuned, If anyone has a question you can e-mail me.
